Welcome to the Wapello Rural Water Association Community. If you have any questions regarding a new service please contact our office by phone at 641-682-8351. We look forward to serving your water needs.
If you have been thinking about hooking on to WRWA for the first time, adding another service, or maybe adding a service for livestock, here are a few simple steps to follow and information regarding the process for installing a new service.
First Steps
1.) Print out the Application for New Service found at the bottom of this page and fill out the blanks marked with a red “X" and highlighted in yellow on the application, sign the New Service Application and the Meter Pit Location & Connection Policy.
2.) Return these documents to the office along with a check in the amount of $175 (basic service application fee) and $500 (line extension or ag application fee).
3.) We will then forward this information on to our engineer. We will notify you of the status of your application as soon as the information is available to this office.
Processing the Application
1.) If the new service requires a DOT Crossing Permit or a DNR Permit it may take up to 90 days for application and processing.
2.) Once the application has been approved you will receive an approval letter with the amount due and a Water User’s Agreement. You will need to sign the Water User’s Agreement and send it back to the office with a check for the full amount due.
3.) Once we receive the check and Water User’s Agreement, your service will be added to the list of Services to Install. This is developed on a first come, first serve basis. Your check will be held until the project is completed.
Final Steps
1.) For new construction, installation of the meter pit will not be done until all driveway and dirt work are completed.
2.) A meter will not be installed at the time of construction and the service will be subject to a cross connection inspection before the meter is installed. The water user will need to call the office to schedule the installation/cross connection inspection with 72 hours’ notice.
Please note, there is a monthly facility charge due on all new services, which goes into effect the 1st of the next month after the meter pit is installed on the property, even if there is no meter in the pit.
